My D3 is on order with a Tokyo vendor. I’m also saving up for the 300 2.8. I hope to get the D3 within 2 months. I’m queued 100+ people deep.

No decision on the desktop but having priced out something at about $1500, it doesn’t look likely. On the other hand, used gear seems available… but at shit prices. Best bet is still to fix up the old Dell.

Going to Tokyo in a few days for New Year’s holiday. Will look at some camera shits and computer shits while I’m there.

I will also look for my Tegan and Sara album. Fucking Tower had only one copy left at nearly 40 dollars. FUCK YOU TOWER! The CD was 10 bucks at Amazon on release. It is still only 12. And I can even score the one day shipping thing too. I’ll look hard for it in Tokyo but if I don’t find it, maybe I’ll have my family hook me up. This shit is jacked up. 

It is Christmas but one would never know it. I had Christmas Cake but this was one shitty Christmas.  

Decisions. Decisions. I now regret my decision to get the ‘free’ point and shoot instead of the 19″ LCD monitor. The monitor seems like it would be a lot more useful now. If I had that, I would more easily consider getting a desktop here in Japan. The other relevant items to consider are of course price and my renewal. Since Juhachi Kippu season is almost here again, I need to decide since I like Osaka for gear shopping.

Another option, one that is less expensive, is to replace the HDD on the Dell laptop. But since the damn thing doesn’t boot off USB and doesn’t have a working CD drive… I need to see if I can find a solution to installing an OS.

Or maybe I will just continue life without a second computer. I don’t like it but I can survive.

I also need to figure out my plans for the D3 and the 300mm I want and thus I need to deal with what I want to do in terms of a support system. I need a monopod for the 300. I need to figure out what I can get with my D3 points. The support system I get should fit into my overall plans for a support system (tripod, ball head, Arca-swiss plates).

I don’t like having to make this decision now.
